Your skin health for 2025

beautiful skin, skin health, skin, healthy skin, clear skin, supplements,

Skin Health, healthy skin, new year new skin,

Your skin health for 2025 – It’s a fabulous new year, so why not start as you mean to go on and make 2025 YOUR year for the best skin health you’ve ever had? How would it feel to be glowing on the inside and out and be able to step out confidently in your own skin? Sounds great, yes? It most certainly can be achieved!

My three most important rules for skin health are as follows:  Skin health needs consistency. Skin health takes time. Skin health is an investment.

With my expert guidance and support, let’s create a new skincare routine in which you will truly see what a professional skincare routine will do for your skin. You can expect to see accelerated skin health when we work together to implement your new routine with my recommended skincare products and (if you wish) in-clinic treatments.

But first, let’s talk about a few basics on how you can kick-start your skin health for 2025.

Remove your make-up

Cleanse your face twice a day, morning and evening, without fail. No excuses accepted! Always ensure you remove your make-up and thoroughly wash your face before bed with a good-quality pre-cleanser/make-up remover. Some makeup removers/pre-cleansers are superior to others. Using an oil-based remover would be the best if you wear waterproof makeup.  I would recommend double cleansing with a water-soluble facial cleanser afterwards so there are no traces of oil left on your skin. Oily residue can prevent your skincare products from penetrating the skin and obstruct them from doing their job effectively.

SPF

Don’t forget to apply your SPF daily. Yes! Even in winter. A good quality SPF is essential all year round to protect your skin from UV radiation, pollution, and even windburn!  SPF provides your skin with an extra barrier against the elements. Remember, prevention is better and easier than correction.

Exfoliation,

Exfoliation isn’t the answer!

Stop regularly exfoliating your skin. I know this may surprise you, but exfoliating your face regularly is not good for your skin health. Yes, you might experience that almost immediate glow after exfoliating; however, a few days later, your skin may appear dull, and that’s due to the lack of moisture; any microtears in the skin will allow moisture to escape. Also, take into account that dead skin cells are there for a reason, otherwise, we wouldn’t have them! They protect the immature skin cells until they are mature enough to protect us from the elements such as UV radiation. If you keep sloughing them away, there is little to no protection!

Nutrients

Use professional skincare products that contain potent nutrients and correct and advanced formulations that your skin needs, such as retinoids, antioxidants, peptides etc. Professional skincare products that target the concerns and conditions of your skin will have a more significant impact to your skin health than generic over-the-counter skincare products.

Supplements

What you put into your body is as important (well, actually more important) than what you put on your skin. Consider skin-specific oral food supplements; you will have quicker skin results by taking them. Professional oral food supplements will work on the whole of your skin, not just where you apply topical products. Consider that the skin feeds from the dermis, not the surface. Gut health is a priority when reversing problematic skin conditions.

Fuel your body

I’m not saying you need to go on a diet or overhaul your entire eating, but as per the previous point, what you put into your body will reflect on the outside. A nutritious diet rich in vitamin A, C, D & E, along with zinc and omega 3 fatty acids will all help to protect your skin, keep it looking healthy and help fight premature signs of ageing. You can accelerate your skin health even further if you also include professional supplements. Don’t forget the water, drinking water will remove the toxins out of your body and give you a better skin clarity.

Sleep, skin repair, Skin health

Sleep

I know it can be easier said than done, but sleep is such a vital part of your skin health. Getting a good night’s sleep gives your skin and body the time they need to repair themselves. You will see reduced dark circles under the eyes, less puffiness and inflammation, and a better overall skin appearance with enhanced clarity.

Avoid

Avoiding smoking and drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, removing or reducing both will contribute to your skin health. Smoking reduces the blood flow to your skin, leading to a dull complexion and increased appearance of wrinkles. It also damages collagen and elastin, both of which are needed for a more youthful appearance. Alcohol is a dehydrator for the skin; it can also increase flare-ups in problematic skin, cause water retention and dark eye circles and many more skin concerns…

Book a consultation

The most important part of any skin journey is to book an initial skin consultation with me, this way we can take a deep dive into your skin, look at its current condition, understand the history with your skin, any prescribed medication, and what nutrients your skin may need, and then we can make a ‘moving forward’ plan.  I always tailor skincare products to suit YOUR needs, while recommending regular targeted bespoke treatments, giving you the best skin health you’ve ever had.

Now, we’ve talked about what steps you can take to kick-start your skin health journey for 2025, but what else do you need to consider?

What else to consider

When it comes to your skin health, there are so many factors that can affect the health and appearance of your skin, and some things may be obvious, like more sleep, drinking more water, professional skin care products and having regular skincare treatments, but others may not be so obvious. As an example, take into account your makeup – does it contain talc? Bismuth oxychloride? This is what I will find out……

The age of your skincare products

We all have a selection of products, some of which we use daily, like cleansers and moisturisers, and others that may be an occasional thing, like face masks and makeup products. You may end up having products that have been stuck at the back of that cupboard for years, and the problem is that these products may have an expiration date and can have adverse effects on your skin if used beyond their expiry. So go through your products and have a clear-out. Need more information on what you are looking for? Check out my previous blog.

Makeup

You’d be surprised how makeup can affect your skin, maybe without you even realising…It can cause blockages, spots, dehydration, increased bacteria and a lot more besides. When was the last time you washed your makeup brushes? Do you use a clean makeup brand? You may not know what a ‘clean’ makeup brand means… well this is where I come in to explain.

Stress, bad skin,

Stress

Stress is something we all think about and often hear about the effects it can have on your mental health, but it can also have a physical reaction and affect your skin’s appearance. Stress can cause a lack of sleep, make us forget our self-care routine, impact your hormones and digestive system and so much more and these all have an effect on our skin health and appearance. Having ways to deal with these symptoms will help. If you wish to dive more deeply into the impact stress can have on your skin? Check out my August’s blog on just this.

I would be delighted to be part of your skin health journey in 2025, and if you are ready to take the next step then please book a consultation with me. Let’s get you glowing in 2025.
