How is the Decaar algae peel different to chemical peels?
I don’t know about you, but the older I get, the faster time seems to pass, and things just feel like they are flying by so fast that I’m afraid I might miss out on something special. Oh, how wonderful it would be to slow down time, not just for making memories but for our skin, too! Well, at least if you have a good skincare routine and take care of it now, you can give yourself the best chance of having skin that looks and feels healthy and wonderful readers, that’s where I come in.
There are so many ways you can have skin that looks and feels healthy and having regular treatments with a specialist like me is one way to achieve this, whether it’s bespoke facials, cryotherapy, skin-boosting injectables, or something else, there are treatments for everyone. Today I want to talk about peels and particularly how Decaar Algae peels are different to chemical peels.
What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel is a procedure where a chemical solution is applied to your skin to dissolve the ‘glue’ that holds your skin cells together. You can have a light, medium or deep chemical peel treatment depending on what you want to achieve. It is important to remember that although a deep chemical peel will have more dramatic results, it will take longer for your skin to recover, and in reality, these days, with the modern formulations, you can still get the same results with milder peels and less downtime.
What are the benefits?
A chemical peel is designed to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the growth of new cells. It can help improve the appearance of your skin, improve blemishes, reduce age spots, lessen the appearance of wrinkles, and even out the skin tone overall.
What are the risks?
As with all procedures, there are risks and side effects with chemical peels and some of these may include;
- Redness, scabbing and swelling. Redness in particular is normal and the more intense the treatment, the longer it may last.
- This is rare, but is still a risk.
- Change in skin colour. A chemical peel can cause hyperpigmentation, which means the skin appears darker than normal, or hypopigmentation where it appears lighter. This side effect is more common in people with darker skin tones.
- A peel can lead to bacterial, fungal or viral infection.
Now you know more about chemical peels, their benefits and the possible risks and side effects associated with them, let’s talk more about Decaar Algae peel. Let’s start by looking into what exactly it is.
What is the Decaar Algae peel?
The Decaar Algae peel is a skin ‘peel’ without the use of chemicals. It is a unique skin resurfacing treatment that uses natural ingredients like algae (hence the name 😊), herbs and perfluorodecalin, which all work from the inside, out.
How does it work?
To help explain how the Decaar peel can work without using chemicals, let me explain the stages involved.
- Step 1 – You will have normal dead skin cells that sit on the surface of your skin.
- Step 2 – The natural ingredients are applied to the skin.
- Step 3 – Algae microfibres are penetrated into the skin and the upper layers of skin begin to become rejuvenated.
- Step 4 – Blood flow increases and the production of new cells is stimulated.
- Step 5 – Approx. 72 hours after the treatment the skin starts to renew.
- Step 6 – Approx. 24 – 48 hours after treatment collagen is stimulated and there may be a little shedding of the skin noticeable in some areas.

The skin cell turnover of this treatment means it is accelerated from 4 – 8 weeks, to 72 hours! I know, that’s amazing right?! …….and all without chemicals!
The techy bit
Perfluorodecalin is the active ingredient found in DECAAR’s oxygen system. It is a fluorocarbon derivative of decalin, which is used to deliver oxygen to the skin cells. Perfluorodecalin allows the skin to self-regulate and results in a healthy, radiant & hydrated complexion that locks in more moisture for a rejuvenated glow. When worked into the skin, this oxygen-enhancing ingredient offers significant healing and repairing benefits.
