Do I need to use pore strips?

Do I need to use pore strips?

WELL…..

In a nutshell, no.

The quickest way to damage the skin is to use materials that rip off. Of course, we all get excited to see the ‘dirt’ on these pore strips when they are removed, but you’ll find that after a short time, it all returns—a similar outcome with vacuum extraction.

The only truly effective way to reduce pore size is to use professional products and in-salon treatments designed to minimise pore size physically. Otherwise, we continue to damage the skin with consistent evacuation, but we don’t solve the long-term problem.

Always remember pores are not temperature controlled. They do not open with heat, nor do they close with cold. It is a complete myth.

What we see on the pore strips is not actual ‘dirt’ as such. It is sebum which, when oxidised in the atmosphere, turns black. An over-production of sebum can cause enlarged pores, so can ageing. The body deals with these over-enlarged pores by filling them with sebum to prevent bacteria from entering. It’s our body’s way of keeping us safe. Once we have extracted the oxidised sebum using pore strips or vacuum extraction, the body will consistently produce more sebum to fill the enlarged pores, continuing the cycle.

We have to minimise the size of the pores to help solve the problem, and I have plenty of effective methods to achieve this without damaging the skin. If you are suffering from enlarged pores, I can most certainly help you without using pore strips!
