Where Advanced Depigmentation Therapy Creates a Clearer, More Even Complexion
Cosmelan by mesoestetic is an advanced professional depigmentation treatment designed to improve the appearance of melasma, freckles, sun-induced pigmentation, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, dark spots and uneven skin tone.
Pigmentation is not simply a surface concern. It develops through the production and distribution of melanin within the skin, which is why treating pigmentation effectively requires a more comprehensive approach than simply exfoliating visible dark spots.
Cosmelan works by targeting the processes involved in melanin production, helping to reduce the appearance of existing pigmentation while regulating excessive pigment production. Over time, areas of pigmentation become less noticeable and the complexion appears brighter, clearer and more evenly toned.
More Than a Peel?
Yes, Cosmelan is a complete professional depigmentation programme.
Unlike a conventional chemical peel that predominantly works through controlled exfoliation, Cosmelan combines an intensive professional treatment with specialised homecare that continues to target pigmentation for several months.
The programme begins with a period of prescribed skin preparation before the professional Cosmelan 1 depigmenting mask is applied in-clinic. Treatment then continues at home with Cosmelan 2 and prescribed Mesoestetic skincare for a minimum of six months, providing continued action on pigmentation.
What Can Cosmelan Improve?
Cosmelan is particularly effective for improving:
Melasma – patches of pigmentation that commonly appear across the cheeks, forehead and upper lip.
Freckles – helping to reduce concentrated areas of pigmentation and create a more uniform complexion.
Sun-induced pigmentation – including dark spots and areas of uneven pigmentation associated with cumulative UV exposure.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation – the persistent darker marks that can remain following inflammation, particularly after acne.
Uneven and mottled skin tone – helping to restore greater clarity, brightness and uniformity to the complexion.
The Benefits of Cosmelan
Cosmelan can help to:
- Significantly reduce the appearance of pigmentation and dark spots
- Improve the appearance of melasma
- Lighten freckles and sun-induced pigmentation
- Improve post-inflammatory pigmentation
- Regulate excessive melanin production
- Brighten a dull or mottled complexion
- Improve overall skin luminosity
- Create a clearer, more even-looking skin tone
A Complete Approach to Pigmentation
One reason Cosmelan differs from a standalone pigmentation treatment is its long-term approach.
Rather than concentrating everything into a single clinic appointment, the professional treatment is followed by a structured homecare programme that continues to address pigmentation over the following months.
The result is a comprehensive approach to pigmentation that combines professional treatment, continued pigment regulation and dedicated homecare, with the aim of revealing a brighter, clearer, more luminous and beautifully even-looking complexion.

Cosmelan® FAQ’s
Is Cosmelan a chemical peel?
Cosmelan is often referred to as the Cosmelan Peel, but it is more accurately described as a professional depigmentation programme. Rather than relying solely on exfoliation, it combines an intensive professional treatment with specialised homecare to provide continued action on pigmentation.
Do I need to prepare my skin before treatment?
Yes. The Cosmelan programme includes a minimum four-week skin preparation period using prescribed Mesoestetic homecare. An additional professional Melanostop peel may also be incorporated approximately two weeks before your Cosmelan treatment where appropriate.
What happens during the Cosmelan treatment?
Following your preparation period, the Cosmelan 1 depigmenting mask is professionally applied at The Beauty Bistro. Unlike a conventional facial, you leave the clinic wearing the mask and remove it yourself at home after the prescribed amount of time.
How long do I leave the Cosmelan mask on?
This depends upon your skin. The Mesoestetic protocol specifies 6 hours for sensitive/dry skin and 8 hours for normal/oily skin. I will give you full instructions on the day of your treatment.
Will my skin peel afterwards?
Some redness, tightness, dryness, sensitivity and flaking or peeling can occur following treatment. The amount varies from person to person. Your prescribed homecare supports the skin throughout this initial phase.
How quickly will I see results?
Improvements in brightness and skin tone can begin to become noticeable during the first few weeks, with pigmentation continuing to improve progressively throughout the programme.
Why is homecare so important?
The professional Cosmelan treatment begins the intensive depigmentation process, while your prescribed homecare continues to target pigmentation over the following months. Consistency with the programme is an important part of achieving the best possible result.
Do I need to wear SPF?
Absolutely. Daily high-level photoprotection is an integral part of the Cosmelan programme. Melan 130+ Pigment Control is included within the prescribed protocol and is reapplied throughout the day.
Can Cosmelan treat pigmentation left by acne?
Yes. Cosmelan is particularly beneficial for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, the flat brown or darker marks that can remain after acne lesions have healed.
